I believe that Severus Snape, from the Harry Potter series, fits appropriately with the videos view of an antihero. Snape starts out his journey as a Death Eater, or follower of Voldemort. Voldemort has his own twisted ways of which he believes society should be run in the wizarding world. The video states that the anti-hero "initially conforms, ignorantly accepting the views atypical, brainwashed member of society." This is shown through Snape as he follows Voldemort's view of a pureblood society, completely eradicating the Mudloods, or Muggle borns. However, Severus Snape was hiding a dark secret, that of his love for Lily Evans, a mudblood, who was also the mother of Harry Potter. Through his love for her, and her sudden death brought about by Lord Voldemort, he struggles to conform to the ways of a man whom has killed the love of his life. He runs to Dumbledore, and implores him to save Lily, though, as stated above, his attempts are futile. Dumbledore and Snape strike up a deal. A deal that will help and keep save that of the young boy Harry Potter. Snape will act as "double-agent" working with Voldemort while relaying messages to Dumbledore, and reversed as needed. In this way, he is undermining Voldemort's efforts right before the leader's eyes. Snape is working for the greater good, though the audience views it differently. The information extracted by Severus Snape proves vital for both Harry Potter and the wizarding world's causes. Snape is killed by Lord Voldemort, in his attempt to take power. However, before his death, Snape is able to relay the memories and information upon Harry so that he may truly understand his destiny. In these ways, Severus Snape is the epitome of the anti-hero.
